Sankarmision is a non-sectarian spiritual organisation which has been engaged in different types of humanitarian and social service activities for more than half a century. Inspired by the ideals of the Great Sannyasin, Swami Vivekananda, the monks and lay devotees of the Mission serve millions of people without any distinction of caste, religion or race.
The organisation was established in the year 1926 and subsequently registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 having registration no. 18719/915 of 1949-1950. It has also got income tax exemption status, ie, any kind of donation to the Mission is exempted from tax u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act. Recently the Mission has obtained FCRA status.
Main objectives of the Association are:
- 1. To perpetuate the sacred memory of Shri Radharaman Dev through service to humanity carried on in the lights of his teachings.
- 2. To impart and promote the study of the Vedanta and its principles as propounded by the world teacher and prophet of new India, Swami Vivekananda and his ardent follower Shri Radharaman Dev.
- 3. To impart and promote the study of Philosophy, Arts, Science and Industries.
- 4. To train teachers in all the aforesaid branches of knowledge and make them contact the masses.
- 5. To spread education among masses.
- 6. To promote feelings of brotherhood and the spirit of unity among all section of people.
- 7. To establish maintain, carry on and assist school colleges, orphanages, workshops, laboratories, hospitals for the distressed.
- 8. To train self-sacrificing young men for a life of devotion and service.
- 9. To establish Ashrams for periodical retreats to aspirants pursuing spirituality and desiring for seclusion.
- 10. To print and publish periodicals, books for spreading its objectives.
Head Quarter(H.Q.)
H.Q. of Sankarmission is located at Krishnagar, the district head quarter of Nadia in West Bengal just beside NH 34. The Mission is flanked by Churni river, two hours’ drive from Kolkata.
Branch Centres
Krishnagar being head quarter and registered office, it has following branch centres in other places of Nadia district:
- 1. Vivekanandapur( Bhebodanga),a picturesque calm and quiet rural place adjacent to river Ganga (Bhagirati).
- 2. Birpur : A remote place between krishnagar and Plassy.
